Introduction to the Intelligent Agentic Wallet

A self sovereign identity platform does not ship eVoting or eKYC as finished products. It provides the infrastructure underneath: credential issuance, cryptographic verification, a digital wallet and a trust registry. Every function below is an application built on that infrastructure, and each one still needs a real issuing authority and a relying party willing to accept the credential.

Product maturity is highest today in eKYC, passwordless authentication and academic or professional credentialing, with agent identity as the forward looking differentiator. The same underlying infrastructure supports the rest of this list.

Intelligent wallet with robust utility

Identity verification and onboarding

eKYC (digital know your customer)

Verifies a person's identity remotely by checking a government issued credential (ID, passport, mobile driver's license) against a wallet held or newly issued verifiable credential, instead of a manual document upload and review. Cuts onboarding time from days to minutes and removes the need to store copies of raw ID documents, since only a cryptographic proof of the checked attributes is exchanged. Needs an accredited identity or document verification source behind it to be legally recognized in regulated industries such as banking, telecom and gambling.

Identity verification and onboarding

Age verification

Proves a person is over or under a required age threshold without revealing their date of birth, address or any other detail on their ID. Useful for age gated purchases, venues and online content. One of the clearest wins for selective disclosure: the business gets exactly the one fact it is legally required to check, nothing more.

Identity verification and onboarding

Proof of residency and address verification

Confirms a person's address against a verified source such as a utility provider, government registry or bank statement, for loan applications, tenancy checks or benefits eligibility, without requiring the underlying document to be shared or stored by the verifying party.

Authentication and access

Passwordless login and single sign on

Replaces usernames and passwords with a cryptographically signed credential held in the user's wallet, authenticated with biometrics or a PIN on their device. Removes phishing and credential stuffing risk at the source, because there is no password to steal. A direct fit for a wallet based platform and one of the more mature use cases in the market today.

Authentication and access

Physical access control

Extends the same wallet credential to unlock doors, gates or secured areas, replacing badges and key fobs with a verifiable credential presented from a phone. Requires integration with a physical access control vendor such as badge readers and door controllers, so this is a systems integration exercise rather than a pure software one.

Authentication and access

Agent identity and delegated authority

Establishes a verifiable, scoped, time limited and revocable identity for an AI agent acting on a person's or organization's behalf, so a system can cryptographically confirm which agent is acting, under whose authority and within what limits, before granting access to anything. An emerging category rather than an established market, and where iDen2 is deliberately building a differentiated position through the Agentic Proof of Control engine.

Legal and transactional

eSignature

Signs a document with a credential cryptographically bound to a verified identity, rather than a typed name or a drawn signature image. Produces a signature that is provably tied to the signer and tamper evident once applied. Legal enforceability varies by jurisdiction, eIDAS in the EU and ESIGN or UETA in the US, and depends on meeting that jurisdiction's specific technical and procedural requirements.

Legal and transactional

eNotary public

Adds a verified, time stamped, third party attestation to a signed document, the digital equivalent of a notary confirming identity and witnessing a signature, using verifiable credentials for both the signer and the notarising party. Where notarisation has strict legal requirements, as in most US states, this must be built to that jurisdiction's remote online notarisation rules.

Legal and transactional

Digital contracts and smart agreements

Ties contract execution to verified identity and, optionally, to conditions that can be checked automatically, such as a credential proving a license or certification is still valid before a contract activates. A genuine extension of eSignature, though the automated condition checking is a build task specific to each contract type.

Legal and transactional

Power of attorney and guardianship delegation

Issues a verifiable credential proving one person or entity is legally authorized to act on behalf of another, a guardian for a minor, a caregiver for an elderly parent, an attorney in fact, with defined scope and an expiry date. Conceptually close to the agent delegation model, but for human to human delegation.

Civic and government

eVoting

Lets a verified voter cast a ballot electronically, with the credential proving eligibility such as citizenship, residency and age, without revealing how they voted. The highest scrutiny use case on this list: it requires end to end verifiability, ballot secrecy and independent security auditing well beyond standard credential verification, and depends entirely on an election authority adopting it. A demonstration of what the underlying trust and privacy model can support rather than a near term deliverable.

Civic and government

Digital travel credential

Lets a traveler present a verified passport or visa credential at a border, check in counter or security checkpoint from a wallet instead of a physical document. Aligns with the ICAO Digital Travel Credential initiative and mobile driver's license standards (ISO 18013-5). Requires government issuance and airport or border authority acceptance, a long adoption cycle with real momentum globally.

Civic and government

Government benefits eligibility verification

Confirms a person qualifies for a benefit or service, such as an income threshold, veteran status or disability status, by checking a verifiable credential instead of requiring paperwork already held by another agency. Reduces both fraud and the administrative burden on applicants, and is the kind of function referenced by real national digital identity deployments such as Bhutan's NDI program.

Civic and government

National digital ID programs

Provides the foundational identity layer a government issues to citizens, the credential most of the other civic functions are built on top of. A large, multi year program category rather than a single feature, and the anchor use case for national scale deployments.

Financial and compliance

AML and compliance screening

Checks a verified identity credential against sanctions and watch lists as part of anti money laundering obligations, without re collecting and re verifying raw identity documents for each check. Reduces duplicate KYC and AML work across institutions when credentials are reusable, though the screening logic itself is typically a separate compliance system the platform integrates with.

Financial and compliance

Insurance claims verification

Verifies the identity of a claimant and, where relevant, credentials supporting the claim such as proof of ownership, proof of employment for disability claims or a licensed repair provider's certification, to reduce fraudulent claims and speed up processing.

Financial and compliance

Vendor and supplier credentialing

Verifies a supplier's business registration, certifications and compliance status, such as insurance coverage and safety certifications, before onboarding them into a procurement system, replacing manual document collection with reusable verifiable credentials.

Workforce and education

Academic credentialing

Issues diplomas, transcripts and certificates as verifiable credentials directly from the institution, so an employer or another institution can verify authenticity instantly instead of contacting the registrar. One of the most established and well proven use cases globally, with strong existing standards support.

Workforce and education

Professional licensing verification

Confirms a professional license in medicine, law, engineering or the trades is real and currently valid, issued directly by the licensing board as a verifiable credential. Removes the manual license lookup step that sits in most hiring and contracting workflows today.

Workforce and education

Employment and background verification

Lets a person share verified proof of past employment, role and tenure directly from a previous employer's issued credential, instead of requiring a reference call or a third party background check service to re verify the same facts.

Healthcare

Patient identity and consent management

Confirms patient identity across providers and lets the patient control which health records or attributes are shared, with whom, for a defined purpose and time window, producing an explicit, auditable consent record rather than a blanket data release.

Healthcare

Provider licensing and credentialing

Verifies that a clinician holds a current, valid license and the relevant certifications before they are granted system access or allowed to treat patients, a function hospitals and health networks currently spend significant manual effort on through primary source verification.

Supply chain

Product provenance and anti counterfeiting

Lets a manufacturer issue a verifiable credential tied to a physical product, by batch, serial number or certificate of authenticity, so a buyer, customs official or retailer can confirm it is genuine and trace its origin. Strongest fit for high value or safety critical goods such as pharmaceuticals, luxury goods and industrial parts.
